After missing the deadline for several years, I entered a pair of black and white images for the “Sunday in the Park” contest for 2015. One image (not shown) was a closeup of one of the many tulips that adorn the park in spring. It was a bit abstract and didn’t reflect the park as well as others, so I’m not surprised that didn’t make any waves. But the last-minute decision on a mausoleum image gave me the winning entry for the B&W category. I used a color filter adjustment to bring out some detail in a bland sky, while keeping the buildings bright enough to draw interest to the center of the frame.
