We made it! At the #shulers24 where Kate got to walk the purple carpet and we have our wonderful theatre director nominated for an award for their #Godspell production. Kate is also backstage the whole show working in the left wing!

What to do the day after a beer festival? More beer. Found another brewery in Marietta not far from Red Hare called Schoolhouse. They have a nice dog-friendly area out back so we’re watching doggos while sipping some light beers.

Might as well post what little I got of the eclips

Might as well post what little I got of the eclipse this week. We had about 82% coverage which gave us some significant temperature and lighting changes, but that’s about it. I set up my camera with video through my iPad so the theatre students could take a break from practice to peek without need for the solar glasses. We still had fun making pinhole projections on the ground.

What an absolutely amazing show! All the key momen

What an absolutely amazing show! All the key moments and even voices were there, combined with just the right spin and fun for a theatre performance. And to say the effects lived up to everything I had heard, was just fantastic.

I was with one of several groups from various schools so we got to attend a talkback after the show, and none other than the incredible composer Alan Silvestri was there. He was absolutely a gentleman to sign some playbills after the show, in sub-freezing temps after 11pm. Meanwhile I’m standing around, still dressed like Marty McFly, and grinning ear to ear.

It’s hard to accept how quickly a span of 20 yea

It’s hard to accept how quickly a span of 20 years flies by, and what life events happen in between. At the time, 2004 was still shortly after college, marriage, and just setting out on some sort of career. Years on the road made me think of what my home life would be and fatherhood wasn’t even something I could comprehend at that point. Now I can’t think of anything but being here for my daughter first and letting that choose which way I go. And for a moment, I’ll let the space and the photos speak for the time…and the grey.

It’s usually the parents that get a bigger kick out of the table display, though it’s equally fun when a really young kid recognizes who we are. This time around the @atlghostbusters handed out a massive stack of teaser posters for the upcoming movie which is just a month away!

Paris, the Speedun - A whirlwind tour of the city from the Eiffel Tower to the reconstruction of Notre Dame. We explored the Catacombes and Metro system. Walked past Saint Suplice, Luxembourg garden and palace. We saw the city by night via observation deck, and enjoyed the Louvre. And lastly, we spent Christmas at Disneyland Paris.

London, Part 2 - Walked the downtown to see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower), and Buckingham Palace. We shopped in SOHO, had dinner in Chinatown, and saw Leicester and Trafalgar Squares with their Christmas markets. And finally we set off for Paris by train via Saint Pancras.

Today, I bought a hat in London. I’ve got a ton of photos on my phone and we’re midpoint on our European vacation. Tomorrow we travel to Paris, but first I needed to combat the constant wind with something more typical for the area than a baseball or knit cap.

Nothing has pushed me as hard to better my skills

Nothing has pushed me as hard to better my skills in electronics and prop building than my jumping into this fandom. There are so many talented designers and modders in the community that I follow, and I feel that my work finally approaches their level of artistry. This is the second version of a prop I had built from several references, but this time printed in aluminum thanks to finding a cost-effective shop overseas and the quality of the print really made a difference.
